Taught By Bill O'Hanlon

Most psychotherapy has been oriented to the past. But psychotherapy innovator Bill O'Hanlon has a different take and has turned the change process on its head. It was when he was studying under the late Dr. Milton Erickson that Bill began to learn a method that used the future rather than the past as a fulcrum for change. Bill realized that had already (inadvertently) had positive experiences with this approach in past personal struggles. Bill developed this method that he refers to a "future pull" and he will be sharing more about in this 1 hour mini-course.
Learning Objectives
  • Articulate the rationale for using the future as a change method
  • List the four methods of using the future in change work
  • Use the problems into preferences method
